Here's the thing nobody tells you: the Colosseum ticket itself is not the decision. The decision is which tier — because the €18 basic entry at 1pm in July and the underground tour at 8:30am are two different monuments. One is a queue with a view, the other is the reason you came to Rome.

Below, the visit types that actually exist, in plain words. Same product, different resellers: prices move a few euros between them and availability differs by date — that's why we give you more than one button.

Our take: if you can spend a bit more, the underground & arena floor tour is the single best upgrade in Rome. If you can't, basic entry at opening time beats a mid-tier tour at noon.

Quick answers

Why do you show three different sellers?

Same tour, different reseller: prices differ by a few euros and availability differs by date. If GetYourGuide is sold out for your morning, Viator or Tiqets often isn't. We're partnered with all three — the commission never changes your price.

Is the underground tour worth the price?

Yes, and we say this as people who've walked it hundreds of times. It's the only tier where the building stops being a backdrop and becomes a machine. If the budget doesn't stretch, basic entry at 8:30 is the honest second best.

What's different about the private option?

It's not resold: it's delivered by licensed guides of our own network. You get the schedule built around you — kids, mobility, an obsession with gladiators, whatever applies.
